Youth Services Worker

Position: Youth Services Worker
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: 35 hours per week (must be available afternoons, evenings)
Salary: $20.00/hour
Term: 8 weeks starting July 2nd – August 27th, 2025
Closing date: Until suitable candidate is found
The North Peace Youth Support Association (Ignite NPYSA) is seeking a Youth Services Worker for our centre. The successful candidate will facilitate summer programming and assist the Executive Director with daily administrative, event, and maintenance tasks as appropriate.
This position will report to the Executive Director.
Ignite NPYSA has been in operation since 1993 and has been a lifeline for many area youth. Ignite provides direct programming in the areas of technology, music, art, lifeskills, social-emotional learning and more to youth ages 10-18. We participate in community events designed to engage the youth to volunteer and give back. We strive to create a space that allows youth to develop skills and self esteem in a supportive, fun and inclusive environment.
Duties will include:
Creation and facilitation of afternoon and evening programming activities (may be in collaboration with volunteers and Executive Director) that adhere to program goals and budget constraints.
Modeling a positive attitude, behaviors, life choices, communication and problem solving skills.
Positively motivate and engage youth in all activities and assist in preparing and facilitating activities to ensure the success and completion of activity.
Provide daily maintenance of the centre. Ensure that the centre is properly set up and ready for the next program day.
Assist in the distribution, completion and collection of all official forms such as registration forms, sign in sheets and surveys.
Is familiar with and adheres to the program manual and agency policies especially regarding Code of Ethics, Professionalism, Confidentiality and Duty to Report.
Supervision of youth including enforcement of the discipline policy.
Preparation of healthy snacks in accordance with safe food handling guidelines (training provided).
Assistance promoting the programs on a variety of social media platforms.
Completion of training modules designed to support their role as a youth worker (as assigned by their supervisor).
Develop a flexible attitude that allows for changes in plans based on participant needs and interests.
Qualifications:
This position is partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program provided by Service Canada. Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protections has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
And legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations (international students on a work/study permit are not eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program)
Additional qualifications:
Provide a clear Criminal Record check.
Provide a clear Vulnerable Sector check
Experience working with youth is an asset
Must not have attended Ignite programming for at least two years
