Equipment Upgrade

We are in the process of upgrading our equipment big time! We have a lot of new tech equipment to help us deliver programming (in-person AND online) as well as provide workstations for youth to use and MUCH more. .

Navigation Thursdays - what the heck is that??

So glad you asked! Every Thursday we are here to assist youth with one:one support. That could be help filling out forms, individual help with pre-employment, or even studying for the AB Learner’s Permit. Sometimes folks need a little help navigating systems that can be challenging. That’s where we come in!

This program is entirely funded by the Government of Canada’s Community services recovery fund and we are so grateful!

  • The program will operate on a four-week cycle, focusing on four main areas: Skills for Living, Health & Wellness, Job Readiness, and Moving Forward running from July 2023 through June 2024.

  • A diverse range of learning contexts, including guest speakers, hands-on activities, and group discussions, to keep the sessions engaging and accommodate different learning styles.

  • The daily schedules will be based loosely on a workday with meetings, coffee breaks, projects and learning sessions.

  • Participants in the Building Futures program will apply their skills in real-life situations and bond together through social interaction and shared learning.

  • Creating a sense of community where participants actively engage with each other, guest speakers and with the program’s facilitator, forming positive relationships and practicing effective communication. They can share their own experiences and learn from others in a non-judgmental, accepting environment.

The four main sections of the program will include learning skills that accompany:

  • Job Readiness - Get ready to learn about job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, and workplace etiquette. The program will also cover soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership that are essential in the workplace.

  • Moving Forward - Learn how to celebrate successes, handle failures, and continue to strive toward personal and professional goals. Participants will be taught coping mechanisms and strategies to overcome setbacks and challenges.
